Visual Sensing®

Visual facilitation method
to activate intuition
non-verbal learning
and creative thinking

Visualising the unspoken
to wider understanding

Visual Sensing® is an somatic artistic method created to make visible with painting on paper the unspoken wisdom perceived by our body intelligence. It has been developed by Anna Maggi thanks to the influence and contribution of many teachers and colleagues.

Visual Sensing® method can be used for visual facilitation and sense making process in conferences, workshops and meetings and also as a method of inner exploration.

Visual Sensing® applied to visual facilitation

The facilitator paints live during the event, workshop or conference, creating an abstract painting through a generative process in which she/he listens with the presence of the whole body to what is emerging from the group field.

Visual Sensing® stimulates participants’ non-verbal learning and memory, imaginative and creative intelligence. It captures the overall and the emotional qualities of training, meetings and conferences.

Sense making

Visual Sensing® support sense making activities, resonance process and visual harvesting.

Participants can be guided in a sharing starting from the artwork which then ends in the verbalisation of some key concepts and creation of new content.

Visual Sensing®: A Tool for Inner Exploration and Team Growth

The Visual Sensing® method is a powerful approach used for intuitive inner work, ideal for innovative team building, coaching journeys, and personal discovery. This method fosters self-exploration, self-understanding, and provides new insights into specific topics or challenges.

The method is taught during workshops or trainings through individual or group work.
First we approach a particular situation or theme through embodiment practices by focussing on emotional sensations perceived by the body. Then we explore how to express those sensations visually with color on paper.

Discover my art!

As an artist, I create abstract pieces that capture the essence of special moments, transforming emotions into lasting memories. I paint live at both formal and informal events, such as weddings, special occasions, celebrations, and unique gatherings, using my Visual Sensing® method.

I also take commissions, creating custom abstract works by deeply connecting with a person or moment—whether it’s a unique artwork for a space, a personalized silk scarf, or a special gift for a newborn or celebration. To fully immerse myself in the energy, I often ask clients to share photos and videos, allowing me to create a truly personal piece.

Services:

Visual facilitation

I offer visual facilitation services using the Visual Sensing method both online and in-presence.

Online I collaborate with organisations and individuals all over the world from my studio in Hamburg. During an online facilitation the participants can see me painting live.

I am happy to travel for in-presence facilitations and we will agree together on my space requirements, generally a simple table is enough.

Visual Sensing artworks produced during an event are for sale, both to event participants and third parties, unless otherwise agreed with the organisation.

Training

I offer Visual Sensing training both online and in-presence. I often have the pleasure of co-creating and organising trainings with other colleagues to create diverse offers.

Visual sensing trainings are often aimed at teaching the method as a tool for inner exploration.

A Visual Sensing training helps to achieve self-awareness through the visual representation of a particular situation and to undertake a process of understanding and re-appropriation of the subject.

Why I believe it is important

In our society we are mainly trained to use our logical/linguistic abilities and silence our sensations and emotions. Working with the body, with creativity and with art helps us to get back in touch with this part of us and helps to reintegrate intuition and spontaneity as a source in our private and working life.

We are all artists all the time and the more we practice contact with our right brain, i.e. our intuitions and emotions, the more we get in touch with the artistic part in us.

Visual Sensing is an artistic practice that makes visible what the artist perceives with the body, mind and heart but nevertheless is an holistic approach. Applying the technique of Visual Sensing means to get in touch both with the rational and conceptual and also with the emotional and physical sphere of the relevant object and then pause for a moment (instant of “MA”). Eventually this moment of connection transforms into a tangible piece of art expressed by colours and shapes that materialise a bridge between the rational and emotional sphere.

Why to choose Visual Sensing®:

Engagement

Engagement:

Visual Sensing increases the engagement of participants during a meeting, conference or workshop.

intuition

Intuition:

Visual Sensing triggers emotional memory, challenging participants to make new connections and stimulating their intuition.

Harvesting

Harvesting:

The Visual Sensing can be used for documentation, storytelling and to enrich the communication of an event.

visualisation

Visualisation:

Visual Sensing translates words and concepts into colour and shapes, stimulating participants’ non-verbal learning and memory.

abstraction

Abstraction:

Concepts are transformed into abstract shapes and colours, so that the overall and emotional qualities of a meeting are captured.

Idea generation

Idea generation:

The final image triggers the imagination and creative intelligence of the participants allowing them to develop new points of view.

About me

I’m Anna Maggi, visual facilitator, designer and embodiment practitioner.

I have a Master in Communication Design (Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design, London), a BA in Graphic Design & Visual Communication and a Degree in Painting and Decoration. I have been working in the design and art field in London, Florence, Milan and Brussels for 15 years with a focus on social innovation. My curiosity in the body’s wisdom led me to study Cranio-Sacral and Bioenergetic techniques. I have been active in the global Presencing Network since 2015 and in this frame I have practiced Social Presencing Theater (SPT).

After years of working in Art Direction and Design, I started painting again bringing together her knowledge of embodiment, design thinking and art to create my own approach called Visual Sensing with which I work as a visual facilitator in online and in-person events.

I’m originally from Florence, I have been living in Barcelona, London, Bruxelles and recently I moved to Hamburg, Germany.

I offer online and in-person visual facilitation and trainings.

This painting created by Anna during an event I organised became a delightful mindful adventure to deepen this experience by harvesting the seeds of possibilities encapsulated in its visual essence (the sun, the bridge, the pond and its water lily), by sensing its deeper meaning around global collaboration emergence, while finding the painting right place in my home, in my life and in my soul.
